backend functions for AI, voice and calendar
Productivity apps measure output. Nobody measures direction.
Calendars, task managers, habit trackers and journals each cover a slice of someone’s week — and none of them knows why any of it matters. The idea behind Aliigned was a single system that connects where your life stands, what you commit to, and what you learn from how it went.
That is a hard product to build well. It has to be fast enough to run a whole day from, private enough to hold a journal, smart enough to coach with real context, and available wherever people plan: in the browser, on the phone and on the desktop.
What we built
Four parts that hand off to each other — life areas, goals, reflections and accountability — plus the engineering that makes them feel like one product on every device.
One codebase, three native shells
The same React build runs as a web app, inside a Capacitor container on iOS and in a Tauri shell on macOS. A single runtime layer handles the differences, like deep links and sign-in callbacks.
An AI coach with real context
The coach reads the user’s actual goals, check-ins and journal — by text or by voice — so its answers are about that person, not productivity in general.
A data model that holds up
Goals, projects, tasks and weekly moves each have one clear job, with rules for how they attach. That clarity is what lets the Today view, reviews and coach share the same truth.
A day you can see
Timeboxed blocks and Google Calendar events in one column — so planning and doing live on the same screen.
Private by default
Journals stay private and are never used to train models, the coach reads only what a question needs, and everything exports. Separate staging and production environments protect real user data.
Quality built into the pipeline
Hundreds of test files run in randomized order, alongside type checks and design-token gates, so the product can change every week without breaking.
A closer look at Aliigned

Every surface — coach, wheel of life, goal scoreboard, reflection cadence, day plan — shares the same goals, areas and history.

The product story we shaped with the app: four parts, one system, each handing off to the next.

Accountability that respects boundaries: an AI coach with full context, and per-person, per-area sharing.
How we got there
- 01
Define the system
We wrote down what a goal, a project, a task and a weekly move each are — and which connections are legal — before building screens on top of them.
- 02
Design for daily use
A shadcn-based design system with first-class light and dark themes, tuned by testing real routines: morning check-in, weekly planning, monthly review.
- 03
Ship on the web first
The browser app went live first so real usage could shape the product while the native shells were built on the same code.
- 04
Take it native
The same build runs inside iOS and macOS apps, with native sign-in, deep links and file handling where each platform differs.
- 05
Launch and keep shipping
A waitlist site, pricing and transactional emails for launch — and a weekly release rhythm that goes through staging before production.
Built with
A product that keeps shipping — on every screen people plan from.
Aliigned runs as one product across web, iPhone and Mac, with an AI coach, voice input and calendar sync built in. The foundation — a clear data model, a real design system and a test suite that runs on every change — is what lets it keep moving fast without breaking.
It is the kind of product work we do for clients: take an ambitious idea, make it concrete, and build it properly so it can grow.
